Meet the Team!

Kay Kaesler (Founder & Partner)

Kay Kaesler, an accomplished motorcyclist and photographer, has shared his passion for scenic motorcycle routes across Thailand, Asia, and beyond for over 25 years through numerous articles in blogs, forums, and magazines.

Kaesler’s journey into motorcycling began early. At just seven years old, he clinched his first race on a Simson SR2 50cc two-stroke on Germany’s island of Usedom. His racing career flourished as he competed successfully for East German motorcycle manufacturer MZ Motorcycles. As a test rider for MZ, he contributed to the development of a pioneering 125cc water-cooled two-stroke engine, which became synonymous in the 1980s with some of the world’s fastest two-stroke motorcycles.
Beyond motorcycling, Kaesler is also a passionate photographer, capturing the world’s vibrant diversity in his images. His photo essays chronicle his travels, emphasizing human culture, wildlife, and breathtaking landscapes. His work has been widely featured in German motorcycle magazines like Motorrad, Mot Magazin, and Tourenfahrer, as well as outdoor and international publications such as the Bangkok Post, Vientiane Times, Taiwan News, and Lufthansa’s Inflight Magazine. His journeys have also appeared on German television and international online broadcasts.
In 2009, Kaesler channeled his expertise into founding Big Bike Tours (Thailand) Ltd., Part., aiming to share his love for adventure motorcycling. Big Bike Tours offers immersive motorcycle travel experiences across Thailand and Southeast Asia, including harder-to-reach locales like Tibet, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Borneo.
Today, Big Bike Tours has explored over ten countries across Southeast Asia, and Kaesler himself has journeyed through more than 50 countries on five continents, amassing countless miles on his motorcycle.
In addition to leading motorcycle tours, Kaesler creates instructional and adventure videos to prepare motorcyclists for travel, inspiring them to embark on their own journeys. He also delivers multimedia presentations that showcase his stunning photography and remarkable stories, as well as seminars focused on travel essentials such as motorcycle maintenance, GPS navigation, and expert travel tips.
Fluent in German, English, Russian, and Thai, Kay Kaesler resides with his family just outside Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand, where he continues to inspire a new generation of motorcycle adventurers.

“Pong” Puttapong J-Hae (Tour Guide)

Pong has been an integral part of Big Bike Tours for the past two years, bringing both his passion for motorcycles and his local insight to the team. Growing up in Mae Hong Son, Pong’s fascination with motorcycles began early. As a young boy, he would watch groups of big-bike riders cruising through his hometown, even passing by his school. Those glimpses of adventure sparked a dream that stayed with him as he grew up.
After graduating in Chiang Mai, Pong bought his first bike in 2016, which quickly became an essential part of his life. Riding back to Mae Hong Son to visit family, he discovered a deep love for the road and the freedom it offered. Joining Big Bike Tours was a natural next step, allowing him to turn his childhood dream into a career where he now helps others experience the thrill of motorcycling across Thailand and beyond.

“Koppi” (Tour Guide)
Koppi hails from the picturesque town of Phayao and is a graduate of Naresuan University with a degree in Human and Social Sciences, specializing in English. His career as an English-speaking guide began in 2014, and since then, he has spent nearly a decade leading tours through rugged jungle terrain as a Moto Off-Road guide.
Determined and adventurous, Koppi saved up to buy his own Vespa, opening up a new world of solo travel and connections with fellow riders. Over the years, he received numerous offers from tour companies but remained dedicated to the craft, working alongside Noah before joining Big Bike Tours last year. Today, Koppi combines his love for travel and guiding to help our guests experience the thrill of motorcycling through Southeast Asia.
